The George
Welcome to The George
Established in 1677 the George is a Grade II listed building which stands out for it's Georgian dôcor, etched, gilded mirrors and wood panelling. It sits in Fitzrovia, an area named after the Hon Charles Fitzroy who developed the area in the 18th century. Since then the are became a haunt for artists and writers alike, and it's rumoured that the poet Dylan Thomas frequented the George to write. Now it's a local watering hole for the BBC, so you never know who might just be popping in next for a bite to eat. We have wide range of wines and spirits particularly whisky, with 10 fine malts always available. We are also well known in the area for our extensive range of Cask Marque accredited ales. As well as the always popular Greene King IPA and Royal London there are 3 guest ales at all times, with around 20 guest ales a month from the UK's small independent breweries.
